Training Educators to Support Family Learning
Event Type:
Date / Time:
Thu June, 25 - 8:00am to 11:30am
M. Cunningham, Dialogue Consulting, S. Pattison PhD, Institute of Learning Innovation

Family groups are among the largest percentage of visitors to most botanic gardens, especially those with children’s gardens. Join in a conversation about how gardens can more intentionally design learning experiences and train staff/volunteer facilitators to support the unique needs of family groups while improving visitor satisfaction and deepening their learning. Recent research from the museum field along with specific training exercises and reflection tools will initiate an extended exchange of ideas with opportunities to apply ideas to your site. This workshop will appeal to frontline educators (paid and volunteer) and those responsible for training them.
