Creating Effective & Educational Intern Experiences at Public Gardens: As educational organizations, public gardens can provide wonderful opportunities for students to learn about horticulture, non-profit organizations, and develop a passion for public gardens. Despite this, many gardens, particularly those with smaller operating budgets, struggle to establish and support an internship program. Some view them as time consuming, complicated, or worry about providing an adequately rich educational experience. This session introduces key components of successful internships at a variety of organizations, big or small. Through interaction with panelists, participants will generate ideas allowing them to tailor an internship program to their garden’s needs.
