Although botanical gardens are uniquely positioned to promote plant science education, we often face similar obstacles that limit our impact. At Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, we have explored strategies for getting ahead of these roadblocks, and are encouraged by the results. Join us as we discuss how the creation of our own botany magnet high school where students are conducting botanical research and taking college-level botany courses that will have them exceptionally prepared for college programs in plant science. By getting ahead of the roadblocks you too can create an environment that encourages students to work toward careers in plant science.
