Utilizing Location-Based, Mobile Games to Engage the Elusive Tween Audience: Looking to expand your educational offerings? Learn about a current collaboration between Missouri Botanical Garden, Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Red Butte Garden, San Diego Zoo, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to create interactive, location-based games using MIT’s free TaleBlazer software. Through a National Science Foundation grant, these organizations have created mobile games on GPS-enabled smart phones to engage children aged 10 to 13 within their institutions. Learn about tweens’ experiences in the project’s first two and a half years, as well as how you can build mobile games to engage this age group at your institution.
