Artists have been known to draw creative inspiration from their gardens and the unique spaces they call home.
Dutch born folk artist Wouterina (Riana) de Raad's 3 acre perennial garden is nestled in the rolling farmland of western Wisconsin. Upon arrival, APGA guests will be greeted by several concrete sculptures and will enjoy garden paths that meander under mosaic covered arches, past benches and oversized sculptures, and along deep colorful flower beds planted with both the exotic and familiar. The inspiration for these gardens and art come from her past growing up on her parents coffee and rubber plantation in the midst of the jungle on the island Java. Where the customs of a rich culture, mingled with her Dutch heritage, and from the daily experiences living on an old farmstead in America's dairy state.
